It was worth the effort..
studying how to become an art teacher at UAH!
For the last couple of weeks I have been thinking about this website of mine, I hadn’t realised that being immersed in the teaching master had been so demanding but finally in July I passed all the subjects and the TFM, got very good results and feedback on some of the subjects, and really deserved some time away from a screen developing new and old artsy rusty skills.
And yes. Excuse me but I do prepare the content and I also write and I’m the person in charge of uploading the content, so it’s my responsibility to make it happen. It might sound as an excuse but I also needed some time for myself after an exhausting year of both work and studies.
So, you are now probably wondering what have I been up to in an artistic sense?
Let me begin with a fact that came to mind at the beginning of July just before sitting the last exam, the presentation of my annual teaching project. The project is related to art history since it began in the prehistoric period, as that is one of the conditions that apply in Madrid when working on a teaching schedule. This idea took me to Mesopotamia and how they did sculpt some people who were powerful, moreover they were the first citizens to work with angles, and they would carve stone to represent figures they wanted to last long.
It’s been a while since I last carved stone, something that I have done at the university but never got round to doing it again and the materials required are more costly than clay, so I decided to buy clay, this clay comes in 12.5 kg packages and I have to admit that I plan to build a bigger sculpture sometime soon so I bought two Sio2 packs from a very good supplier. Also got stoked with everything that is required, clay modelling tools that I had used for previous master assignments, got a new sculpting wheel from Milbby, a fairly new art business that has good quality and nice prices, and last but not least, I started to think about what to sculpt…
So I came up with the idea of sculpting grannie Muriel Paynter when she was young, as I remember reading her memoirs and how the cover had a picture of her looking super cool and pretty, although she was wearing an army uniform as part of the woman that joined World War II helping in any possible way.
However the picture that we found first (mum and I) was a picture taken with her dad and her dog at a much earlier stage in life, during the 1930’s approximately.
Here you can see the result, a bust of my grandmother smiling and expressing joy in a beautiful way.
After 2 or 3 sessions the bust started to look right although I loved the entire process, it took me back to university days and it felt utterly amazing, relaxing, or even challenging.
Another profile of the bust where details can be seen, eyelids, nose, and mouth, 3D volumes that nowadays can be made in 3D printing, using apps such as Shaper 3D..
I did use Shaper 3D to make an assignment for one of the subjects presented during the master, got a very good grade for that work, 9 out of 10, so feeling quite proud and of course, will deliver a post about it soon.
I can only say that it involves 3D printing and chess!
January’s recap
I haven’t got much time for anything lately apart from attending the master at the UAH to become a qualified Art teacher, we have lots of homework to do, many subjects to study at a real well respected university, something I’m glad to say.
I have decided to post a few of these works that I’m proud of, a clay cast structure and the resulting model, a chromatic circle in 5 steps, and finally, last but not least, an self portrait using a picture taken when I was a teenager myself, ‘Sweet sixteen’. Inspired by Shepard Fairey for the lettering around the face that I have painted using two complementary colors, cyan and orange, starting with gouache and using acrylic painting for the finishing strokes.
In addition, I have sewed the edges of the letters and the edges of the cardboard, a material I find quite interesting to work with, students will have no excuse using it as it is cheap, it allows different techniques to be applied on and as it happens with photography, it’s not the camera but the photographer who makes the difference.
Here a few examples of the work we’ve been assigned with during the master, mainly for subjects as Complementos or Organización de Talleres with Cristina del Moral, a very interesting teacher that is delivering quality lessons that I’m very much enjoying as you can see.
merry Xmas and a happy new ‘24

Creative recap amidst a full stack load of work!
Working as a Real Estate consultant I have met lovely people as Gema, who gave me 24h to paint her aunt. It was a challenge as the original picture had no left arm and I had to erase the person standing beside this stunning lady.
Pira left us just after her owner Cris E. gave birth to a couple of amazing twins, bless her. She’s now in Cat heaven.
Pira the grumpy cat 😸
My friend Mirey visited Madrid so I gave her this cute commissioned painting for her daughter Lola.
And in October I enrolled to study an official master at the UAH, to become an Art teacher for real, being terribly busy between attending lessons, homework and work at Engel Volkers as a consultant. However I’ve had time to paint some beautiful commissioned paintings that deserve to a recap post celebrating this year, a year of changes, new work challenges, new friends, old ones too, family, my loving parents and of course my dearest Ignacio who never stops cheering me at any time or encourages me in my artistic endeavours ❤️ #lifeisgood
Since March I have been involved with a project hosted by Wilko Art Gallery, a project that is willing to commemorate the MAN museum, Museo Arqueológico Nacional, in an exhibition that will take place next year, 2024.
I have chosen Livia as an inspiration, mixing past and present, based on the right against left eternal dichotomy that seems to be a never ending story of arguments between politicians that instead of using their power to solve problems seem to enjoy creating them.
It represents hard working women, those who choose to speak and communicate connecting to others in a positive way, working for and looking forward to the best society and development possible for everyone.
Finally, to finish off this short post as a way to keep the flame burning and this website growing strong, a small selection of works I’ve been working on lately mostly, for the master and a cute doggie for Gabriel aka Fonty, a anniversary celebration present that I was commissioned to paint. Feels good to be part of the surprise and to know that the painting was a huge success, they all loved it ❤️🎄
Wishing you a great 2024 full of energy, good vibes and lots of positive thoughts!!! 🤗

Manolo Romero, this mind-boggling charming man!
Right after painting my Dad in April, a painting that has received some beautiful comments, for me it has been a great success that has turned into more fruitful commissions such as the one I’m presenting today. A new painting for Manolo Romero, a good family friend.
We (my family) know how special Manolo is, his passion for art, poetry and birds that we all have inherited in a way. We grew up spending many weekends in Nayagua, Jose Hierro’s countryside home learning from the most creative minds, thanks to Manolo who was happily married to Marga, one of Pepe Hierro’s daughters..
Manolo has always seen the art in a person, he has always encouraged us, my siblings, Jaime and Edu to learn music, poetry, literature or to paint, specially in my case, when we only had one landline phone at home and I would answer (waiting for a boyfriend to call!) but instead what I got was his powerful voice telling me to work at a radio station (Too shy for that), or to pursue the dream of drawing to become an artist due to my sensitivity..
So if you ever wonder why I studied Fine Art, this is the guy to blame!
We miss him a lot since he left for Cordova but still, we have the perfect excuse to visit him there as well! And I can say he’s a walking encyclopaedia who will enlighten your life with amazing stories told in the most delightful way.

Life got productive lately
Life has been hectic lately and I’m currently processing everything (yes! Mercury retrograde is here..), lots of notes on art, new paintings, specially portraits that I can wait to show you! I’ve even been a bit YouTuber with Arturo Geometría, studying the ins and outs of technical drawing but.. here I am again, after producing comes editing and showcasing! Please stay tuned meanwhile as I even got to see the Vermeer´s exhibition in Amsterdam!!
On the 20th of April my dad, Papi as we dearly call him, made it to a huge milestone in life, becoming and celebrating 80 years.
I have always praised him as a hard worker, as the man he truly is due to the huge inspiration he means to us.. a teenager who left his hometown at the age of 15, to pursue his dream of becoming a doctor. And of course he did, and he did well, working for 43 years at a very well known hospital, La Paz in Madrid.
It was an honour to create this artwork, in very little time, another acrylic on canvas (As yes, I am keen on sustainable and ecological paint).. ready for more now! Feel free to ask for commissions, my rates are still affordable 😉.

Last but not least, Clara Campoamor, a lady lawyer who made it possible for women to vote in Spain and Rosa Parks, civil rights activist in a world that had to fight racism, and unfortunately, still does have to break barriers to fit a respectable place on earth.

Our latest date at Pinta y Cata was super fun, we had both adults and children exploring their creativity, adapting to all ages, and levels.
No previous experience is required, you just need to want to explore your creative side, in a fresh and different way where I explain the techniques and how to express your art on a canvas.
There’s always a reference that I paint before in less than 3 hours so everyone can replicate or do their own version.
Check out the above pictures to see how the set up is done, and how the wine tasting takes place.

Starting a new series of paintings inspired by birds and awesome people that I admire.
I have just finished studying a very insightful course related to sustainability that I was thankful to be granted by Banco Santander in alliance with Cambridge Judge University.
The course was 100% online and what I most value is the chance of learning how the world is sadly being destroyed by bad practices, too much CO2 or plastic everywhere, facts that we are all aware of along with some others that we ignore as how much is water polluted by textile dyeing in countries as India or the USA, China.. basically every place where clothes are produced.
I will write a longer article about this shortly.
Here we can see a Mexican beautiful bird called Reinita Roja or Chipe rojo.
and above this text an European Robyn.
Both available * 30x30cm acrylic on canvas
Jane Goodall is such an inspiration, a woman who has worked to preserve animals, endangered species, she deserves all my respect for many reasons and that is the reason why I have decided to portray her using a beautiful picture as reference shot by Katherine Holland, who’s kindly given me permission to use it and an amazing feedback with the results 🥰.
These last few months have been quite productive, translating into the following artwork..
